H-1B Cap Reached and Lotteries Underway
April 14, 2015The USCIS reports that it received 233,000 H-1B petitions during the filing period that began on April 1. All of these filings have been input into the USCIS system and a computer-generated random selection process is underway to select petitions for the 65,000 bachelor degree cap and the 20,000 advanced degree cap slots. All unselected petitions will be rejected and returned with government filing fees. The selection process occurs first for the advanced degree slots. Then, all unselected advanced degree petitions are included in the random selection process for the 65,000 bachelor degree limit. Premium processing for selected H-1B cap cases will begin no later than May 11, 2015.
