E-Verify Notice for Employers Regarding CHNV EADs
June 23, 2025E-Verify Notice for Employers Regarding CHNV EADs
On June 20, 2025, E-Verify issued to employers the new “Status change Report” in response to the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) announcement of the revocation of Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) for certain individuals whose parole into the United States has been terminated. The DHS action primarily affects individuals who were paroled under the humanitarian processes for nationals of Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela (the CHNV program), but it may also extend to other parolees.
E-Verify has requested that employers use its new tool, the Status Change Report. This report allows employers to identify if any existing E-Verify cases were created using an EAD that has since been revoked by DHS.
Once the employer has run the new report and applicable employees are identified, reverification must begin immediately. The employee must present unexpired documentation from List A or List C of the Lists of Acceptable Documents. Employers should not accept revoked EADs, even if they appear unexpired. Employers should not reverify identity documents (List B). Employers must not tell the worker which document they should provide but instead should allow employees to choose which valid documents to provide. Employees who cannot provide work authorization must not continue working.
What Employers Need to Know
- DHS is actively terminating parole and revoking EADs for certain noncitizens. Notifications have been sent directly to affected individuals.
- E-Verify’s new Status Change Report replaces prior Case Status Alerts for EAD revocations. It includes:
- The revocation date
- The case number
- The A-number associated with the revoked EAD
- This report will be updated regularly as DHS revokes more EADs.
Action Steps for E-Verify Employers
- Log in to E-Verify and run the Status Change Report regularly.
- Use Form I-9, Supplement B (Reverification) to verify the continued employment eligibility of any affected current employee listed in the report.
- Complete reverification within a reasonable period.
- Do not create a new E-Verify case for these employees.
